LOCAL AREA

Franschhoek, a picturesque town nestled in the Western Cape, is best known for its wine farms and the  wine tram. The small town located just outside of Cape Town has been named one of “World’s Greatest Places” by Time Magazine.

The magazine praised the ‘lavish valley’ for its location only a 50-minute drive from Cape Town International Airport and labelled Franschhoek as “a wine lover’s dream”.

The Franschhoek Valley is known as the Wine and Food Capital of South Africa, hosting some of the top 100 restaurants and great wine farms in South Africa.

The popular hop-on-hop-off Wine Tram, within walking distance, is the best way to discover the beauty of the Cape Winelands. The tram transports passengers and allows them to hop off at each stop to experience a wine tasting, lunch, picnic or just a stroll through the vineyards.

The Motor Museum, Perfume Museum, various Spas, Huguenot Memorial Museum, Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve, Babylonstoren and the famous Belgian Patisserie for Belgian pralines are a few places worth visiting when you stay at Le Petit Bijou.

Sporting activities in the area include several brilliant golf courses close by, a gymnasium, several magnificent hiking trails in the surrounding mountains and cycling/mountain biking.
